What are skin boosters?
Skin boosters are deep hydration treatments that aim to improve skin texture and elasticity. Unlike fillers, they are not used to add volume or change the shape of the face — small amounts of product are placed across the treatment area to support the quality of the skin itself.
With Dr Abes you can choose from Profhilo, Jalupro and polynucleotides (often called salmon DNA) for the face or the delicate eye area. Changes build gradually and are usually subtle: skin tends to look fresher and more hydrated, rather than treated.

How skin booster treatment works
Every treatment starts with a medical consultation. Nothing is done until Dr Abes is satisfied it is right for you.

Consultation
Dr Abes assesses your skin quality, talks through your goals and medical history, and explains the options and their risks.
Step 2
Treatment
The skin is cleansed and the product is placed with fine injections across the area. Profhilo and Jalupro are offered as a course of 2 sessions, polynucleotides as 3 sessions.
Step 3
Aftercare
Small raised marks, redness or tenderness at the injection points are common and usually settle. You will be given aftercare advice before you leave.
Step 4
Review
Results build gradually over your course. Dr Abes reviews your skin at each visit and adjusts the plan if needed.

How are skin boosters different from dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are used to add volume and shape to areas such as the lips, cheeks or jawline. Skin boosters focus on the quality of the skin — hydration, texture and elasticity — and are not designed to change your features. Some people benefit from both; see Dermal Fillers.
What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are a skin booster often described as salmon DNA. They are used on the face or around the eyes to support overall skin quality. Dr Abes will explain how they work and whether they suit your skin.
How many sessions will I need?
Profhilo and Jalupro are offered as a course of 2 sessions and polynucleotides as a course of 3 sessions. Dr Abes will advise on what your skin needs and when maintenance might be worthwhile.
What does treatment feel like?
You will feel a series of small pricks. Most people find it manageable, and Dr Abes will talk you through what to expect and how comfort is managed.
Is there any downtime?
Most people carry on with their day, though small bumps at the injection points can be visible for a short time. Side effects such as swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness can occur and usually settle on their own. Rare complications are discussed with you in detail at your consultation.
How long do results last?
Results build gradually and usually last several months, depending on the product, your skin and your lifestyle. Dr Abes will discuss maintenance with you.
Who is it suitable for?
Treatment is only for adults over 18 and is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Dr Abes reviews your medical history at a face-to-face consultation before any treatment, and will tell you honestly if it is not right for you.
How much is the consultation?
Consultations with Dr Abes are £50. If you go ahead with treatment, the £50 is deducted from your treatment cost.
