Collagen is one of the proteins that keeps skin firm, and the body makes less of it as we age. Collagen stimulators are injectable treatments that aim to encourage the skin to produce more of its own collagen, for firmer, youthful-looking skin. Because the change relies on your skin’s own response, it appears gradually rather than straight away.

How are collagen stimulators different from fillers?
Dermal fillers add volume where they are placed, and the change is visible straight away. Collagen stimulators aim to encourage your skin to produce more of its own collagen, so the change is gradual. See Dermal Fillers to compare.
What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. A small sample of your own blood is taken and prepared to concentrate the platelets, which are then used in treatment — here combined with SkinPen microneedling or the U225 Meso Gun.

How many sessions will I need?
Each treatment on this page is offered as a course of 3 sessions, or per session. Dr Abes will advise on what is appropriate for you.
When will I see results?
Because collagen builds gradually, changes usually appear over the weeks and months after treatment rather than immediately. Results usually last for a long time, depending on the product, the area and your skin.
Is there any downtime?
Many people return to normal activities soon after, but you may look a little swollen or marked at first. Side effects such as swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness can occur and usually settle on their own. Rare complications are discussed with you in detail at your consultation.
Who is it suitable for?
Treatment is only for adults over 18 and is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Dr Abes reviews your medical history at a face-to-face consultation before any treatment, and will tell you honestly if it is not right for you.
How much is the consultation?
Consultations with Dr Abes are £50. If you go ahead with treatment, the £50 is deducted from your treatment cost.
